AuDHD Psychotherapists Offering Virtual Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy Across Canada
AuDHD Psychotherapists
We are Canadian Psychotherapists offering virtual, neurodivergent-affirming therapy online across Canada, including Saskatoon and Halifax. We are proudly AuDHD (a combination of Autistic and ADHD), and we think it has a nice ring to it. We draw on a combined 20+ years of experience in private practice, alongside our lived experience of being neurodivergent.
As neurodivergent therapists ourselves, we specialise in working with sensitive souls, including those with Autism, ADHD, and High Sensory Processing (HSP). We work with clients who fall into what was previously known as the Asperger category of Autism. Although these individuals are often considered "high functioning," we use this term carefully, as it can mask the deep-seated struggles hidden beneath a facade of appearing to cope well. Whether you are late-diagnosed, self-identified, or somewhere in the middle of your discovery, our virtual therapy space is here for you.
As trauma-informed therapists, we recognise that the deficit/disorder narrative and the medicalised model of autism can in themselves be traumatising. Pressuring neurodivergent people to appear more neurotypical (to fit a square peg into a round hole) is deeply damaging. It is not the client's job to educate professionals on how they need to be supported.
We are committed to helping others in the way we ourselves needed support in the years before and after recognising our own neurodiversity later in life. Our hope is that this work helps reduce the impact of living in a neurotypical world, and that accessing online therapy in Canada feels a little easier because of it.
Our Ethos
Recognising natural neurodivergent variations in human brain functioning
Honouring neurodivergent strengths and vulnerabilities
Acknowledging the challenges of navigating a neuronormative world
Acknowledging the ableism that neurodivergent people so often encounter
Recognising the impact of internalised neuro-ableism on mental health
Acknowledging the role of intersectionality, and the added weight of racism, sexism, classism, and prejudice based on religion, culture, disability, sexuality, and gender identity
Our therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing on humanistic, person-centred, experiential, relational, dialogical, somatic, and mindfulness modalities. We adapt the way we work to suit your changing needs, and our virtual therapy sessions are available to clients across Canada from the comfort of your own space.
If you enjoy working creatively, we can explore the issues you bring through creative psychotherapy using art, writing, poetry, music, movement, and drama. We take a mind-body-spirit-community continuum approach to healing. Using a multimodal skill set, we also offer complementary therapy for clients who are spiritually oriented. Recognising the brain-gut connection, we can support clients as naturopaths, offering nutritional advice on request.
We offer heartfelt support in exploring neurodiversity, self-advocacy, being heard and respected, boundary setting, and self-care.
